Action taken in alleged pupil assault case

GEORGE TOWN: Action has been taken against a teacher over allegations of humiliating, physically assaulting and threatening a Year Six pupil.

Penang Education Department director Mohamad Dziauddin Mat Saad said action was taken following a probe.

“A consultation session involving the parents, the Northeast district education office (PPDTL), school administrators and the parent-teacher association was held to discuss the actions taken and the welfare of those involved.

“As a protective and preventive measure, the teacher no longer has direct contact with the pupil and has been referred to the PPDTL organisational counsellor for guidance and support,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

He added that the pupil had also been referred to a guidance and counselling teacher for support and intervention.
