A TEENAGER in Zhejiang, China, learnt the hard way that being a food delivery rider was not an easy job after trying it for 20 days alongside his father, China Press reported.
Xiao Hao, 14, reportedly lost his temper at his father when being nagged about his studies and said: “I might as well deliver food for a living.”
Instead of arguing with his son, the father, Hao Jie, 40, decided to let the teenager experience the job himself.
Hao Jie agreed to ferry his son around on an electric motorcycle but allowed him to accept orders, plan routes and manage his earnings.
The boy discovered that it was uncomfortable to ride a motorcycle in the height of summer, deal with his phone overheating and had his earnings docked for late deliveries.
To keep his costs down, Xiao Hao would sometimes skip lunch and continue working.
At the end of the 20-day challenge, the teenager said he learnt that food delivery was not as easy as he had expected.
He admitted that if he could stick with such a difficult job for 20 days, he should be able to withstand the pressures of studying and do well academically from now on.
What surprised the father was the bond he developed with his son after having to spending long hours together every day for almost three weeks.
> The daily also reported that a woman in Hong Kong, who was found with an acupuncture needle sticking out of her right buttock, sparked an investigation into a private hospital.
The Hong Kong Health Department said the incident took place on June 25 at a private hospital where the 32-year-old woman received physiotherapy.
The case was reported to the Health Department two days later, which sparked an investigation into the matter.
According to the department, the hospital failed to comply with the Code of Practice for Private Hospitals.
The hospital apologised for the incident and immediately arranged for the woman to undergo further examination and treatment.
