PETALING JAYA: Two areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 10am on Sunday (Aug 16), according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
Samarahan and Kuching were the only areas to record unhealthy readings, at 154 and 118 respectively.
Among the areas with the highest moderate readings were Sri Aman (92), Sarikei (87), Samalaju (86), Banting in Selangor (86) and Nilai in Negeri Sembilan (85).
Bukit Rambai in Melaka (84), Alor Gajah in Melaka (81) and Miri (81) also recorded high moderate readings, along with Sibu (80).
Meanwhile, 65 areas around the country recorded API readings at the moderate level, while no areas recorded good readings.
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
API data is released hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
