Thunderstorms, heavy rain forecast in eight states till 1pm, says MetMalaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to hit several areas in the Peninsula and Sarawak until 1pm Sunday (Aug 16), says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In an alert at 8.35am Sunday, MetMalaysia said the affected areas in the Peninsula include the entire states of Perlis and Melaka, as well as Langkawi, Kubang Pasu and Kota Setar in Kedah.

The weather warning also involves Kuantan, Pekan and Jerantut in Pahang; Sepang and Kuala Langat in Selangor; Port Dickson, Seremban, Rembau, Kuala Pilah and Tampin in Negri Sembilan; and Tangkak and Muar in Johor.

For Sarawak, the forecast was issued for the areas of Mukah, Selangau, Sibu, Sarikei, Maradong, Bintulu, Kapit, Bukit Mabong and Subis in Miri.

The warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for each advisory. - Bernama
