KUCHING: Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) customers are advised to use electricity wisely during the prolonged hot and dry weather in Sarawak.
SEB said electricity consumption could increase in hotter weather as customers use air-conditioning and other cooling appliances for longer periods.
It also warned that prolonged dry conditions may affect water resources supporting hydropower generation.
"Customers are encouraged to avoid unnecessary electricity use, particularly during periods of high demand.
"Simple measures such as setting air-conditioners to around 24°C, switching off lights and appliances when not in use and avoiding the simultaneous use of multiple high-powered appliances can help reduce consumption," the state utility company said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 11).
SEB said customers with smart meters can use the digital services on the SEB Cares mobile app or SEB website to monitor and manage their electricity consumption.
The Energy Insights feature enables customers to track their usage hourly, daily and monthly to identify opportunities for energy and cost savings.
"Sarawak Energy continues to closely monitor weather conditions, water resources and electricity demand, and is taking the necessary measures to support the reliability of electricity supply during this period.
"Customers are encouraged to play their part by using electricity responsibly and conserving energy," SEB said.
