Four injured injured as car overturns on NSE near Ipoh


IPOH: Four Indonesian nationals were injured after the car they were travelling in skidded and crashed into a road divider before overturning on the North-South Expressway near here early Sunday (Aug 9).

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received an emergency call regarding the accident at 5.28am.

"Upon arrival at the scene at 5.36am, firefighters found the vehicle had skidded and crashed into the divider before overturning," he said in a statement.

He said the victims comprised two men and two women, including a 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, while the identities of the other two victims were not immediately available.

"Three of the victims had managed to get out of the vehicle before firefighters arrived, while the other male victim remained inside the car but was not trapped.

"The operation commander conducted a size-up and applied the SAVER concept before firefighters assisted the man out of the vehicle.

"All four victims sustained injuries, including to their heads and faces," he said.

Sabarodzi said the victims received initial treatment from Health Ministry medical personnel at the scene before being taken to hospital in ambulances.

Seven firefighters from the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Station, along with two policemen and four Health Ministry personnel, were involved in the operation.
