Gobind: Agentic AI will make access to online services easier
PETALING JAYA: The public could soon have easier access to smarter government services as the MyGOV Malaysia application is enhanced with agentic artificial intelligence, says Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo (pic).
He said the move was among the latest developments being incorporated into MyGOV, reflecting the need for government services to evolve alongside technological advances.
“MyGOV aims to address concerns over the growing number of applications needed to access different government services.
“The government wants to bring various services offered by the federal, state and local governments together on a single platform, while improving the services provided,” Gobind said when opening Jelajah Malaysia Digital (JMD) at Dewan Komuniti Damansara Damai here yesterday.
This, he said, would make it easier for people to access government services without having to navigate multiple applications.
Gobind urged the public to explore MyGOV and make use of the digital services available, stressing that digitalisation was not merely about introducing new technology but ensuring people understood how to use it and benefited from it.
Technology, he said, had transformed everyday activities, from how students conducted research to how businesses promoted their products, reached customers, received digital payments and arranged deliveries.
“Technology adoption should ultimately be measured by the tangible benefits it brings to businesses and industries, rather than simply by the availability of new digital tools,” he said.
However, Gobind also warned about the risks that came with greater technology use, particularly online scams.
“We must make sure the information we receive is accurate and genuine,” he said.
Gobind said digital literacy must therefore include an understanding of the risks associated with technology and how to deal with them.
He said the government wanted digital literacy efforts to reach communities nationwide, including at the district level, with JMD forming part of the initiative.
Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation chief executive officer Anuar Fariz Fadzil said JMD aimed to bring the country’s digital transformation agenda closer to communities nationwide.
He said the programme provided exposure to digital literacy, digital careers and digital entrepreneurship, while bringing together government agencies, industry players and strategic partners.
Anuar said it also aimed to give communities practical exposure to digital technology and encourage greater participation in Malaysia’s digital economy.
