Sarawak Premier announces two-month bonus for civil servants

SARIKEI: Sarawak's revenue performance for the first six months of this year has been encouraging, with the figure among the highest ever recorded for the corresponding period, said Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Without disclosing the amount, he said the strong revenue performance had given the state government confidence to announce a Special Financial Assistance (BKK) equivalent to two months' salary for state civil servants.

"I have received the report for the first six months and it is quite encouraging. I cannot disclose the figure now, so wait until the Budget is tabled.

"I dare to announce the two-month bonus for civil servants and others who have worked hard because I have seen all the figures," he told reporters after officiating at the Sarawakku Sayang Programme Sarikei Division 2026 here on Saturday (Aug 8).

Abang Johari said the actual revenue collection and the state's revenue projections would be announced when the Sarawak Budget is tabled. — Bernama
