IPOH: A 35-year-old man missing since July 29 has been found dead in a drain along the West Coast Expressway in Bagan Datuk.
The remains were discovered by grass cutters who detected a foul smell and spotted a motorcycle in the drain, said Bagan Datuk OCPD Supt Mohammad Ali Mohd Jali.
“Personal belongings including a mobile phone, a Malaysian passport and cash believed to belong to the victim were found at the scene,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Initial investigations suggest the man was riding alone from Teluk Intan towards Sabak Bernam when he veered off the road and fell into the drain, where he remained undiscovered.
Supt Mohammad Ali added that a family member had lodged a report at the Teluk Intan police station about him missing since July 29.
Investigations are ongoing, with the case being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act on causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
“Those with information regarding the incident are urged to contact investigating officer Insp Normah Abu Hassan at 010-5364619,” he said.
