IPOH: Police have arrested seven suspects and seized drugs worth RM538,451 in four raids here.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the raids were carried out on Aug 4.
"Five men and two women aged from 22 to 44 were arrested. The total value of drugs seized and assets confiscated is estimated at RM794,827. The drugs seized were capable of supplying about 23,332 users," he said at a press conference here on Thursday (Aug 6).
Mohd Alwi said that the first raid was carried out at a nightspot in Ipoh, and ketamine weighing 20.08g and 94.21g of MDMA were seized.
Also seized in a second raid WAS MDMA weighing 480.60g and ketamine weighing 4.06g.
He said information obtained from those arrested in the second raid led police to a house in Tapah, where officers discovered 2,502.10g of MDMA and ketamine weighing 4.06g.
In the fourth raid at a house in Bukit Pagar, Tapah, he MDMA weighing a total of 151.62g and ketamine weighing 9.68g were seized.
He added that three cars worth RM224,000 and RM32,376 in cash were seized under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988.
He said drugs tests on two suspects were positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
He added that six out of seven suspects have previous criminal records.
