Thunderstorms, heavy rain forecast in eight states, KL until 7pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds expected to affect eight states and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur until 7pm Thursday (July 30).

MetMalaysia said the affected areas in Peninsular Malaysia are Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, and Hulu Perak), Terengganu (Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman), Pahang (Bentong, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin), Selangor (Gombak and Hulu Langat), Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Jempol), and Johor (Mersing, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru).

In Sarawak, the warning covers Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah (Tanjung Manis), Kapit (Song), Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi), and Limbang, while in Sabah, it covers the Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuasla Penyu and Beaufort), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud) and Kudat.
