Mujahid welcomes declassification of Tabung Haji RCI report

PETALING JAYA: Former Religious Affairs Minister Mujahid Yusof Rawa welcomes the public release of the Royal Commission of Inquiry report on Lembaga Tabung Haji's financial restructuring.

In a social media post on Thursday (July 30), Mujahid stated the report refutes claims that he sold Islamic assets or reduced dividend payouts without justification during his 2018-2020 tenure.

He said the previous administration issued illegal dividend payouts during financial losses to serve political interests.

“The report acknowledges that the restructuring plan launched in 2018 rescued the institution from a RM10bil deficit crisis,” said Mujahid.

He also pointed out that the report endorsed targeted subsidies for pilgrimage costs to ensure the fund's long-term financial sustainability.
