Two killed after car veers into drain in Sibu


SIBU: Two people were killed after the car they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a roadside drain along Jalan Sungai Bidut here on Wednesday (July 29) afternoon.

The Fire and Rescue Department Sarawak Operations Centre identified the victims as a 46-year-old male driver and a 33-year-old female passenger.

The department said it received an emergency call at 2.48pm, prompting a team from the Sungai Merah Fire and Rescue Station to be deployed to the scene.

"Firefighters arrived at the location at 2.59pm and found a car in a roadside drain.

"Both victims were still inside the vehicle," the department said. – Bernama
