PORT DICKSON: Barisan Nasional’s manifesto will be implemented if the coalition successfully forms the Negri Sembilan state government while suitable proposals from its allies will also be considered, says coalition chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“Yes, we do not have any agreement or formal cooperation. We only have an electoral understanding.
“We will implement Barisan’s manifesto, if given the mandate, while also taking into account those of our allies,” he said when met after an event in Chuah on Wednesday (July 29).
Ahmad Zahid was also of the opinion that there was no issue with the manifesto’s implementation as it covered all layers of society in Negri Sembilan.
On Tuesday night (July 28), Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin questioned which manifesto would be implemented if Barisan and Perikatan Nasional form the next Negri Sembilan government.
Barisan and Perikatan have an electoral understanding for the Negri Sembilan polls, contesting 25 and 11 seats, respectively.
Taking a swipe at both coalitions' electoral pact, Muhyiddin asked how two separate manifestos could be reconciled effectively.
Despite launching separate manifestos, Perikatan has since stated its pledges will complement those announced by Barisan.
Apart from Barisan and Perikatan, Bersatu is contesting 24 seats independently at the state election. Pakatan Harapan is contesting all 36 seats.
Polling day falls on Aug 1.
