Thunderstorms, heavy rain forecast in seven states, two FTs until 9pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds expected to affect several states in Peninsular Malaysia as well as parts of Sabah and Sarawak until 9pm Wednesday (July 29).

MetMalaysia said the affected areas in Peninsular Malaysia are the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, the whole of Selangor, and parts of Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Jempol).

The same warning has also been issued for Johor (Segamat, Kluang, Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru), Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman), and Pahang (Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin).

In Sabah, the affected areas are the Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan), West Coast (Papar and Ranau), Tawau (Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan), and Kudat (Kota Marudu and Pitas).

In Sarawak, the warning covers Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu (Kanowit), Kapit (Song), Bintulu (Bintulu), Miri (Subis, Miri and Marudi), and Limbang. - Bernama
