Zahid denies involvement in so-called 'Bangkok Move' to topple govt

GEORGE TOWN: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi denies claims of any involvement in a so-called "Bangkok Move" to topple the Madani government led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Deputy Prime Minister said there were all sorts of claims going around.

"I have absolutely no such intention. There is no 'Langkah Bangkok' or 'Langkah Dubai' or anything of that sort.

"We remain steadfast and we are committed to being part of the unity government following the decree of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

"We are committed to remain until the end of the 15th Parliament's term," he said during a press conference after a meeting between the Rural and Regional Development Minister with rural excos (Mexclub) at Bahang Bay Hotel in Penang on Thursday (July 23).

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional chairman, said there should be no doubt about their commitment.

"Let people say what they want. What matters is that we must stand together to ensure political stability and that our intentions in this matter are sincere," he said.
