KUALA LUMPUR: Close cooperation and shared commitment between the Federal Government and the Sarawak government continue to strengthen the state’s position as a leader in growth, innovation and inclusive development, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister said every initiative undertaken reflects a shared determination to uplift the people, strengthen the economy and ensure lasting prosperity.
“Sarawak’s ongoing transformation is the result of collective efforts that must continue to be reinforced for the benefit of the people.
“Guided by the spirit of Sarawak Maju Segulai Sejalai (togetherness) we will continue moving forward together to strengthen unity, accelerate development and build a more prosperous future for Sarawak and Malaysia. “Happy Sarawak Day to all Sarawakians,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.
Anwar also expressed hope that the Land of the Hornbills would continue to achieve greater success, drive prosperity and remain a source of national pride for a brighter future for the people of Sarawak and Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said cultural diversity, harmony among its multi-racial communities and the spirit of togetherness, which are traits common among the people of Sarawak, continue to be the strengths that unite Malaysia as one family.
He described the Sarawak Day celebration as a meaningful occasion to uphold the identity of the state’s people, foster a sense of pride and reflect on the journey of a state that has contributed significantly to Malaysia’s nation-building.
“In conjunction with this year’s Sarawak Day celebration, I would like to express my appreciation to the Sarawak state government and the people of Sarawak for all their services, contributions and commitment to developing the state and driving the country’s economy.
“May the spirit of ‘Segulai Sejalai’ continue to inspire us to move forward in tandem, while strengthening unity and building a future Malaysia that is more progressive, prosperous and harmonious. Happy Sarawak Day. Sarawak Maju Makmur, Segulai Sejalai,” he said.
