Thunderstorms, heavy rain forecast in 11 states, KL till 6pm


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm and heavy rain warning for 11 states and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur until 6pm Tuesday (July 21).

In a statement Tuesday, MetMalaysia said the warning covers the whole of Perlis, Perak and Negri Sembilan.

In Kedah, the affected areas are Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu, while in Kelantan, Jeli, Kuala Grai and Gua Musang are included in the warning.

Other states in the peninsula covered by the warning are Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Kuantan and Rompin), Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat) and Johor (Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru).

In Sarawak, the affected areas are Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit (Song and Kapit), Bintulu (Tatau and Sebauh), Miri and Limbang.

In Sabah, the affected areas include the Interior (Nabawan), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud) and Tawau (Tawau and Semporna).
