Negri polls: Straight fight for Chuah seat

PORT DICKSON: It will be a straight fight between both Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional for the Chuah seat in the Negri Sembilan state assembly. 

Pakatan is represented by Datuk Yew Boon Lye, who is also the incumbent. 

Barisan will be represented by MCA’s Pau Jeou Ching. 

Returning Officer Nurhazelin Makli made the announcement at 11am on Saturday (July 18). 

The 36-seat Negri Sembilan State Assembly was dissolved on June 5, after which the Election Commission (EC) fixed July 28 for early voting and Aug 1 as polling day.

A total of 889,490 voters are eligible to cast their ballots in the state election, comprising 867,151 ordinary voters, 16,884 military personnel and their spouses, and 5,455 police personnel.
