PETALING JAYA: MCA candidates contesting under the Barisan Nasional flag have been urged to campaign with integrity and abide by election rules, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The party president said he had returned from the United Kingdom on Friday afternoon after attending his daughter's wedding and reception before heading straight to Negri Sembilan.
Dr Wee, who was at the nomination centre at Wisma Forest Heights, Seremban City Council, also introduced the seven MCA candidates contesting under the Barisan banner.
They are Siow Kong Choon (John) for Chennah, Chong Fui Ming (Ah Chong) for Bahau, Lai Chien Kong (Alan Lai) for Nilai, Leaw Kok Chan for Temiang, Yap Siok Moy for Rahang, Pau Jeou Ching (Ah Pau) for Chuah, and Koh Kim Swee (Ah Swee) for Repah.
He said the atmosphere at the nomination centre was lively as party members gathered early to march together with the candidates.
"Campaign with integrity, abide by the election rules, and may the Negri Sembilan state election proceed smoothly," he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (July 18).
A total of 103 candidates will contest in the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election, with the Aug 1 polls set to be a multi-cornered fight involving Barisan Nasional, Pakatan Harapan, and a divided Perikatan Nasional.
