NILAI: Humanistic values must not be forgone in the pursuit of knowledge, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said the youth must always strive to master all forms of new technology, including digital and energy transformation, artificial intelligence and more.

“All countries always speak about developing aspects of energy transition, even in the Madani administration because we know that if we excel here, the country moves forward as well.

“However, it must not be at the expense of compromising our religion, culture or virtues,” he said during the Temu Anwar session at the Teachers’ Training Institute here on Friday (July 17).

Anwar also said humanistic values are one thing that should be understood and exemplified by Malaysians.

“There are those who are willing to change and even push for it while there are others resistant to it and even consider it a challenge.

“People also think that if you are the Prime Minister you will be rich and have properties in London and New York.

“In our three and a half years in the government, we are also still fixing the system, which includes corruption which is already considered a norm,” he said, adding that these groups are the ones resistant to change.

He also said working to fix the system is not a popular move, and that many want to challenge such changes.

Anwar also urged all those with authority to set a good example for others.

“When you have the power, regardless if you are a teacher, director or even Prime Minister, lead by example and work to uplift the rakyat,” he said.
