THE sudden appearance of a wild male elephant caused a brief panic among students and teachers of SK Blau in Gua Musang, Kelantan, reported Harian Metro.
The elephant was spotted at 8.30am near the school’s fence on Tuesday, and began searching for food for about an hour before being chased away by villagers.
Teacher Tengku Mohamad Farid Tengku Mohd Nordin said the incident alarmed everyone but luckily, the elephant remained outside the school compound.
“We were in the middle of lessons, so thankfully all the children were within the school compound at the time.
“I managed to record a video before it was chased away by Orang Asli villagers and returned to the forest,” he said.
Tengku Mohamad Farid said elephant sightings were not unusual with wildlife entering the village two or three times a month.
> Once a proud landmark of Tampin, Negri Sembilan, the lake in Tampin Recreational Park is now overgrown with weeds and murky water, reported Kosmo!.
Residents or frequent visitors claimed the lake had deteriorated to such a state after reportedly suffering from poor maintenance for more than two years.
Frequent visitor Rozana Rosli, 42, said the park deserved regular maintenance to restore and preserve its appeal.
“Previously, this area was indeed beautiful and well-known. It would be a pity if it is simply left like this,” she said.
