Blueprint for Malaysia’s AI infrastructure takes centre stage

KUALA LUMPUR: As Malaysia rapidly transitions into a powerhouse digital economy, the local technology landscape is undergoing a profound evolution.

The conversation has fast progressed from merely adding data storage capacity to engineering high-tech, sustainable and cyber-resilient infrastructure capable of anchoring the region’s artificial intelligence (AI) boom.

Set against this transformative backdrop, the upcoming third edition of the CloudTech & DataCentre Conference 2026 on Aug 12 and 13 at Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur, aims to address the critical friction points of this rapid expansion.

Backed by official endorsement from the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI), the event serves as a timely nexus for policymakers and industry leaders grappling with autonomous intelligence and green infrastructure goals.

The strategic weight of the conference is underscored by headline keynotes from two key Cabinet ministers, offering delegates a direct look into the government’s digital roadmap.

On Day 1, MOSTI Minister Datuk Chang Lih Kang will address the foundational pillars necessary to sustain the nation’s technological momentum, speaking on “Powering Malaysia’s AI & Innovation Economy: Building the Foundations for a Digital Future”.

This will be followed on Day 2 by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, who will outline the regulatory and trust frameworks required to establish Malaysia as Asean’s primary digital hub.

His address, “Positioning Malaysia as Asean’s Digital & AI Hub: Policy, Trust & Infrastructure at Scale,” is expected to clarify how the nation intends to balance massive computing growth with robust data governance.

Beyond strategic policy, the conference will move from theory to physical execution on Aug 14 with a dedicated facility tour of NEXTDC’s digital infrastructure.

The facility tour offers a practical exploration of hyperscale architecture, giving industry professionals a technical look at the advanced cooling, power systems and stringent security protocols required to handle the high-density workloads of the next-generation AI ecosystem.

Divided into distinct tracks covering cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure and data centre sustainability, the three-day event provides a comprehensive look at the realities of Malaysia’s high-tech transition.

The CloudTech & DataCentre Conference 2026 is a HRD Corp claimable event.
