KUALA LUMPUR: ITMax System Bhd
is expanding its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered traffic management capabilities, with plans to support more than 17,000 cameras by 2027 using technology from US chipmaker Nvidia.
In a blog post, Nvidia said ITMAX's SamurAI V2 vision AI agents are being scaled on Nvidia RTX PRO 6000 graphics processing units (GPUs) to improve traffic management and urban operations.
The system draws on Nvidia's Cosmos and Nemotron AI models, alongside its Metropolis video search and summarisation technology, to analyse camera feeds and generate operational insights.
ITMAX is also integrating TeraSim, an open-source traffic simulation platform developed by Laplace Intelligence, to optimise traffic signal timing.
It said the technology has helped reduce peak-hour travel times along traffic corridors by up to 26%.
ITMAX provides the infrastructure and AI applications through long-term managed service arrangements with local authorities, allowing cities to adopt AI solutions without developing and maintaining their own systems.
Nvidia said cities were increasingly using AI to turn data from cameras, sensors and operational systems into actionable insights for infrastructure planning, maintenance and public services.
Shared computing infrastructure could also help city departments and local developers expand AI services without investing in their own computing resources.
Similar initiatives are underway in Spain, Poland and the United States, covering public services, urban mobility, safety monitoring and emergency response.
Nvidia is showcasing these developments at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, from Nov 3 to 5.
