Stulang representative vows greater effort after retaining seat

JOHOR BARU: Stulang assemblyman Andrew Chen Kah Eng has pledged to work harder for his constituents after securing a fourth consecutive term in the 16th Johor state election.

Chen said he visited the Taman Pelangi morning market to thank voters personally for exercising their democratic right and casting their ballots.

"I came here to personally thank the voters for coming out to vote in the recently concluded state election. The voter turnout was very encouraging, especially among outstation voters who made the effort to return home to cast their votes," he said here on Monday (July 13).

While Pakatan Harapan did not achieve the overall result it had hoped for, Chen was grateful that Stulang voters had once again placed their confidence in him. He was re-elected to represent them in the Johor state assembly.

Chen, who first won the seat in 2013, retained Stulang in a four-cornered fight with a majority of 623 votes.

In the state election, Barisan Nasional won 48 seats while Pakatan won eight seats.
