Biker, 18, killed after colliding with car in Cheras


PETALING JAYA: An 18-year-old air-conditioning technician was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a car at a traffic light junction in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Cheras, late Sunday (July 12) night.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said police received a report on the fatal accident at about 11.30pm.

"Initial investigations found that a car travelling from Jalan Suadamai entered the junction at Lebuh Utama Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, where it collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction," he said in a statement on Monday (July 13).

He said the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 67-year-old retired driver of the car was unhurt.

"The victim's body was sent to Hospital Serdang for a post-mortem," he said.

ACP Naazron said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

He urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the investigating officer, Insp Saifudin Saadun, at 011-2111 9379 to assist in the investigation.

He also reminded road users to drive responsibly, obey traffic regulations and remain vigilant at all times to prevent road accidents.
