Search and rescue op ongoing for teen who went missing while swimming in Johor


JOHOR BARU: A search and rescue operation (SAR) is ongoing for a missing teenage boy while swimming in the river at Taman Bayu, Senibong near here.

Johor Jaya Fire and Rescue station chief Mohd Faiz Ramli said the missing boy was swimming with his friend in the river on Sunday (July 12) when the incident happened.

“We received an emergency call at 3.31pm, and our men arrived at the scene 8km away from the station at 3.44pm,” he said in a statement.

Faiz said the 14-year-old boy identified as Mohd Izran Helmi Abdullah was rescued by the members of the public before the arrival of the Fire and Rescue Operation Team at the scene.

“The missing 14-year-old teenager is identified as Mohd Adli Mohd Fazli," said Mohd Faiz.

He said the operation led by senior officer 1, involved 17 firemen from Johor Jaya Fire and Rescue station and Skudai Fire Station Water Rescue Team.

Faiz said a Fire and Rapid Tender vehicle, an Emergency Medical Response Service vehicle, a boat and a Toyota Hilux truck are utilised in the SAR operation.
