Baker feeds members of media covering Johor MB swearing-in

JOHOR BARU: Members of the media who were waiting for the swearing-in of the new Mentri Besar received a pleasant surprise when a lady suddenly appeared with food for them as they waited to cover the historic event.

Bakery store owner Musrifa Jaafar, 46, brought 15 packs of assorted baked goods, including sausage buns, sugar buns, cheese buns and tarts, to reporters, photographers and camera crews outside Bukit Serene Palace on Sunday (July 12).

Musrifa said she decided to head to the palace after watching a TikTok livestream by another news outlet, where she heard one of the reporters saying members of the media were hungry and had yet to eat after waiting for hours.

She said it reminded her of her son, who is studying at a polytechnic in Kedah and would sometimes tell her he had not eaten when she called to check on him.

"I always ask my son whether he has eaten, and sometimes he tells me he is hungry because he hasn't had the chance to eat yet.

"When I heard the reporter saying they were hungry, it reminded me of my son. I thought if I could help feed the media here today, perhaps Allah would send kind people to look after my son whenever he is hungry or in need while he is away from home.

"That was what inspired me to pack the bread and come here," she said.

Musrifa said she prepared the food with the help of her staff before making the trip to Bukit Serene Palace to hand it out to members of the media.
