PJ cops nab two after man found dead in hotel

PETALING JAYA: Two local men were detained over the death of a man whose body was found at a hotel near Subang here.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shamsudin Mamat said police received the first report on the incident at 11.23pm on Wednesday (July 8).

“Acting on the information, a police team was dispatched to the hotel, where they found the body of a local man.

“Initial checks found injuries on the victim’s body,” he said in a statement Friday (July 10).

ACP Shamsudin said initial investigations identified the victim as a local man in his 30s.

He added that several items believed to be linked to the case were also seized from the scene to assist investigations.

“A post-mortem conducted at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre on July 9 confirmed the cause of death as multiple blunt impacts to the body,” he said.

Police have since detained two local men, in their 20s and 30s, to assist in the investigation, he said.

“Both suspects have criminal records and have been remanded until July 16,” he said.

ACP Shamsudin said the motive for the incident is still under investigation and efforts to trace other suspects are ongoing.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"We urge those with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Asst Supt Fandhi Fatullah Abu Bakar at 014-630 3090 or go to the nearest police station.

"We also advise the public not to make statements or spread any materials related to the case on any platform to avoid speculation that could affect police investigations," he added.
