Cops bust syndicate exporting drug-laced vape cartridges

KUALA LUMPUR: A drug syndicate exporting out drug-laced vape cartridges has been busted after police uncovered their operations hidden in village areas.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, at a press conference Friday (July 10) at the police contingent headquarters, said that Ops Pijat was launched on July 1 where the group was successfully busted after raids in Meru and Kajang.

A total of eight foreigners were arrested, aged between 21 and 40 years old.

“In the two raids that were conducted, the police recovered 500 packets filled with suspected drug-laced vape cartridges and around eight bottles of MDMA weighting around 197g.

“The seized drugs were estimated to be valued at RM152,400. Investigations showed that the group used kampung houses (village houses) outside the city areas as their preferred location to package the drugs. They will then use boats to smuggle the drugs out of the country,” he said.

Further checks also showed that three of the eight suspects tested positive for drugs but none had prior criminal records.

“All have been remanded for 11 days, until July 11,” he said.
