EU diplomats visit Terengganu to strengthen ties


PETALING JAYA: A delegation of ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from 15 European Union (EU) member states have paid a courtesy call on the Regent of Terengganu, Tengku Muhammad Ismail, during an official visit to the state.

The delegation, led by EU Ambassador to Malaysia Rafael Daerr, was accompanied by Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar during an audience with the Regent at Istana Syarqiyyah in Kuala Terengganu.

Ahmad Samsuri said he hoped the visit would pave the way for closer ties and greater cooperation between Terengganu, Malaysia and the European Union.

"I hope this visit will continue to strengthen the bonds of friendship and open up more opportunities for cooperation that will benefit Terengganu, Malaysia and the European Union," he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Jul 7).

The delegation comprised ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from Croatia, Romania, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Slovakia and Spain.
