School stabbing victim in stable condition

PETALING JAYA: The victim of a stabbing incident in a school in Banting, Kuala Langat, is currently in a stable condition, according to health authorities.

The Selangor Health Department said that the victim, a student from a nearby secondary school, was brought to the emergency room of Hospital Banting at 10.13am on Monday.

"The student received emergency treatment and is currently in a stable condition.

"The patient is being monitored and reviewed so that they receive the appropriate care," said the department in a statement on Monday (July 6).

Earlier, the father of the victim told the press that she had suffered multiple stab wounds, resulting in injuries to her left lung.

Muhammad Firuz Ibrahim, 43, said his 15-year-old daughter knew the suspect, as they had been classmates the previous year.

He said that he believed his daughter may not have been the intended target during the Monday (July 6) incident.

“As far as I know, the student had not been expelled but was undergoing disciplinary action,” said Firuz, a deliveryman, when met at the hospital.

Before the stabbing incident, the suspect was reportedly seen entering the school through the main entrance, wearing a black T-shirt and red checkered trousers.

The suspect was later detained when police arrived on the scene. Authorities also seized a knife believed to have been used in the attack.

Several videos of the incident have since circulated on social media, showing a teenage girl dressed in black wandering around the school while holding a knife. The footage also captured students fleeing for safety amid the chaos.
