No cracks within Perikatan coalition, says Azmin

KOTA TINGGI: Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has downplayed the rift between his party and PAS, claiming that they continue to work together.

He claimed there was good cooperation on the ground, with the parties helping each other's candidates in the election.

"Well, we are contesting in different constituencies, but of course, there is good cooperation on the ground among the machinery.

"We are contesting as Perikatan, so we will act and work as Perikatan in all the constituencies we are contesting," he told reporters when met at Gerai Muafakat in Jalan Sungai Siput here.

Azmin, who was campaigning for Perikatan Nasional candidate for the Panti seat Mohamad Alias Rasman, said this when asked whether the two parties were working together in the election amid talks of cracks within the coalition in the weeks leading up to the election.

On the challenges faced by Perikatan, he said the coalition acknowledged that it is entering the election as the underdog.

"We admit that Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional are entering this election as the underdog, but we have seen that the wisdom and political maturity of Johor voters are very high.

"That is why, over the past few weeks, after travelling to almost every district in Johor, I can see that the momentum has been very positive, especially among young voters," he said.
