Did a man get arrested with his wife for driving recklessly along the Federal Highway recently?

VERDICT:

TRUE

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shamsuddin Mamat said the local couple, both in their 50s, were arrested by officers from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at about 9pm on Wednesday (July 1).

“A Magistrate has granted a four-day remand order on the driver from July 2 until July 5, while his wife was released on police bail after her statement was recorded.

“The investigation paper will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office soon for further instructions,” he said in a statement on Thursday (July 2).

ACP Shamsuddin said police would not compromise with anyone found violating traffic laws, stressing that enforcement was necessary to ensure the safety of all road users.

Earlier, several videos went viral on social media showing a sport utility vehicle being driven recklessly along the Federal Highway before a man, believed to be the driver, was seen hurling abuse.
