Senam Sihat Madani Merdeka programme aims to break records

JOHOR BARU: The Senam Sihat Madani Merdeka 2026 programme will be held simultaneously at 1,098 National Information Dissemination Centres (Nadi) nationwide on Aug 29 in conjunction with National Month celebrations, with a target of attracting more than 50,000 participants.

Communications Ministry senior undersecretary (management) Datuk Aminurrahim Mohamed said the programme also aims to secure recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records for the largest simultaneous participation through the Nadi network.

He said the programme would bring communities together through fitness activities that promote a healthy lifestyle, togetherness and unity.

“What is important is that when the exercise programme is carried out, we want to see a very meaningful picture, where from Johor to Perlis, and from Sabah to Sarawak, Malaysians move together for health and well-being,” he said in his speech at the launch of Senam Sihat Madani Merdeka in conjunction with the Madani Kita Programme Larkin here yesterday.

Aminurrahim said the programme is one of the initiatives under the Self-Wellness pillar of Nadi’s Smart Services, which encourages communities to adopt an active lifestyle and take care of their own and their families’ health, Bernama reported.

He said 137,254 participants nationwide had taken part in programmes under the Self-Wellness pillar to date.

In Johor Baru alone, 245 participants had benefited from the programme and health screening activities conducted through Nadi so far, he said.

Meanwhile, he said efforts to promote community well-being were also highlighted through Madani Kita Programme Larkin.

Various free services were provided to the local community, including basic health screenings, dental examinations and heart health risk screenings using artificial intelligence technology.

He said the facilities were provided to raise health awareness among the community and encourage early detection of health risks so that follow-up action could be taken at an earlier stage.
