THE 5th World Digital Economy and Technology Summit (WDET) was recently held in Kuala Lumpur, hosted by the World Digital Chamber and organised by KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof officiated the official opening and delivered the keynote address.

Special addresses were also delivered by Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah, Cambodia’s Senior Minister Dr Chhem Kieth Rethy, the co-chairman of the World Digital Chamber Jonathan Marland – who is also chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council and former UK Minister for Energy and Climate Change – and founder and retired chairman of Infosys Technologies Narayana Murthy.

World Digital Chamber president Tan Sri Michael Yeoh said the forum aims to promote Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital transformation for good.

The forum brought together policymakers, digital entrepreneurs, technologists, innovators and investors.

Now in its fifth edition, WDET has grown into one of the region’s leading platforms for dialogue on the future of the digital economy.

WDET brings together government leaders, regulators, industry pioneers and investors from across the globe to chart practical pathways for harnessing artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and emerging technologies in service of inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Through its plenary sessions, ministerial dialogues and industry showcases, the summit seeks not only to spotlight innovation but to translate it into actionable cooperation between nations, institutions and the private sector.

Earlier this month, KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific also organised the World Women Economic and Business Summit in Penang on June 15, which was officiated by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and graced by the Consort of the Governor of Penang.

In addition, KSI hosted the World Green and Sustainability Summit in Sabah on May 25, launched by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and graced by Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman.

Earlier this year, senior directors of KSI, led by chairman Tan Sri Majid Khan, were received by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Anwar welcomed the KSI delegation and the opportunity to discuss strategic cooperation between KSI and the Madani government in areas related to nation building.

According to the Prime Minister’s statement issued after the meeting, the discussions focused on the importance of leadership grounded in integrity and on strengthening efforts to promote national progress through responsible governance and inclusive development.

KSI International Advisory Board chairman Tan Sri Dr Munir Majid said KSI will continue to help advance digital and green transformation through its programmes and initiatives.

To translate this commitment into action, KSI has set up the AI Digital Thinking Lab (AIDT@KSI), a dedicated platform to provide AI solutions, advisory services and training for governments, businesses and institutions navigating the digital transition.

The lab is being developed in collaboration with the Centre for AI Innovation, bringing together complementary expertise in artificial intelligence and digital strategy to help organisations move from ideas to implementation.

Through AIDT@KSI, the institute aims to equip policymakers and enterprises alike with the practical know-how to adopt AI responsibly, building on KSI’s track record of convening summits and dialogues across the region and reinforcing its role as a bridge between policy ambition and on-the-ground implementation.
