JOHOR BARU: Pakatan Harapan should focus on fulfilling the promises it has made to Johoreans instead of a new manifesto, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
The caretaker Johor Mentri Besar said it may be difficult for some parties to present a manifesto as most of their previous promises have yet to be fulfilled.
"To me, instead of talking about a manifesto, the Pakatan government should tell Johoreans when it will complete the elevated autonomous rapid transit (E-ART), which was announced two to three years ago.
"When will Hospital Sultanah Aminah 2 (HSA 2) begin? That was also announced two to three years ago.
"Even for Hospital Pasir Gudang, they said the hospital would have enough doctors, nurses and other healthcare personnel, with staffing reaching 100% by June this year," he said.
He said this to reporters when met during a meet-and-greet session with voters at the Bukit Saujana flats here on Sunday (June 28).
Also present were MCA Wanita chief Datuk Wong You Fong, Umno supreme council member Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed and Barisan candidate for the Perling seat B. Pannir Selvam.
Onn Hafiz said Pakatan's failure to fulfil those promises had also made it more difficult for voters to believe any manifesto it may bring forward.
"That is why I feel that when they make new promises, people no longer believe them.
"So, on behalf of the government and Bangsa Johor, we want to know when these three things will be completed.
"It's easy to make announcements, but implementing them is what shows whether leaders are truly sincere or not," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding Barisan's manifesto, Onn Hafiz said it was a continuation of the state government's Maju Johor agenda.
"We are continuing various initiatives, including our housing agenda, programmes for Johor's youth, and Bantuan Kasih Johor.
"It's a continuation of what we have done. It builds on the work that we have already carried out," he said.
On Friday (June 26), Onn Hafiz, who is also defending his Machap seat in the Johor election, announced Barisan's 63-point manifesto, saying it draws on the state government's achievements over the last four years.
