IPOH: The woman who was charged for assaulting the Perak Sultan during the state-level National Day celebrations in 2025 has had her representation for the case to be dropped rejected.
The Ipoh Magistrate's Court heard on Monday (June 22) that the trial of the case involving Nurhaswani Afni Mohamad Zorki, from Kampung Manjoi here, would continue on.
Magistrate Norizan Riduan set July 1 for mention to record a plea from the accused.
Nurhaswani Afni had in February this year filed the representation to the Attorney-General's Chambers to drop the charge.

She was charged under Section 352 of the Penal Code for using criminal force in September last year. Security personnel intercepted her before she could reach the Perak Ruler.
She had pleaded guilty in October last year but it was rejected by the court after medical reports from Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta revealed that she was suffering from schizophrenia and was not of sound mind during the incident.
During the celebrations, Nurhaswani Afni had rushed towards Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah on stage in front of the Ipoh City Hall while the state anthem was being played.
If found guilty, she could face three months in jail, a fine of up to RM1,000 or both.
Nurhaswani Afni was represented by lawyer Amrick Singh Sandhu while Deputy Public Prosecutor S. Nishaalini prosecuted.
