JB man found dead after missing since Thursday

JOHOR BARU: A 37-year-old man has been found dead on Jalan Sutera after he was reported missing from his apartment at Jalan Perkasa 2/9, Taman Tampoi Utama.

Larkin Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohd Suhaimi Abdul Jamal said the victim’s mother lodged a report at the Taman Perling police station at 6pm on Thursday (June 18) after he failed to return home.

“His mother found traces of blood in the victim’s bedroom and bathroom, but he was not at home. She then decided to lodge a report,” he said in a statement.

Mohd Suhaimi said the Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call on the missing person case at 1.28pm on Friday.

He said a search and rescue (SAR) team was deployed to the scene and arrived at Jalan Sutera, Taman Perling, about 16km from the Larkin station.

He added that the Operational Output Team (PKO) had been at the scene on Thursday following the report to conduct initial monitoring and assess the situation and risks.

“SAR operations could not be carried out at night due to limited lighting and unsafe environmental conditions,” he said.

Mohd Suhaimi said the SAR operation was divided into two teams, with Team One comprising six firemen and Team Two made up of four policemen.

He said Team One covered the area from the junction where the victim’s car was found to SK Taman Sutera, while Team Two focused on the area from the junction to a dog training centre.

“The victim has been identified as Tay Aun Yen. His car was found about 30m from where the body was discovered,” he said.

Mohd Suhaimi said the body had been handed over to the police for further action.
