Woman and son killed after car crashes head-on into lorry in Kulai


KULAI: A woman and her 11-year-old son have been killed after the four-wheel-drive vehicle they were in collided head-on with a lorry on Jalan Gunung Pulai here.

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the accident occurred at about 8pm on Tuesday (June 16) when the vehicle veered into the opposite lane.

"The vehicle was driven by a 36-year-old local woman and was carrying four passengers aged from 11 to 60.

"The vehicle entered the opposite lane and collided with a lorry driven by a 33-year-old local man," he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 17).

He said the woman and her 11-year-old son, who were in the back passenger seat, suffered severe head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

"The other passengers sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at Kulai Hospital," he said.

ACP Tan said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. He urged anyone with information about the accident to contact investigating officer Insp Ahmad Safuan Abu Naim at 017-757 3507.
