Police probing viral video of Myanmar national with blue MyKad

PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating a viral video of a Myanmar national supposedly having a blue MyKad, after receiving a report alleging the spread of false information on the matter.

Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm Aidi Sham Mohamed said police received the report at about 8.45am on Friday (June 5).

Initial investigations found that the video, which was circulated on Facebook through the account "Na'am Ahmad", questioned how an individual allegedly from Myanmar could possess a blue Malaysian identity card.

"As a result of investigations, police found that the video was a repost by a second party.

"Further checks also found that no identification document or MyKad was displayed in the video to support the allegations made," he said in a statement on Sunday (June 7).

ACP Aidi Sham said the matter has been referred to the National Registration Department (JPN) for further verification and investigation to determine the authenticity of the claims.

He also urged the public not to spread unverified or false information, warning that such actions could create confusion among the public and tarnish the reputation of those involved.

"The public is advised to obtain information from official sources and channel any relevant information to the police to assist in investigations," he said.
