Job seekers find openings at fair

GEORGE TOWN: Job seekers found openings at the myStarjob Fair 2026 from employers looking for fresh graduates and experienced workers.

Into its second day at Setia SPICE Convention Centre today, it offers thousands of vacancies in the fields of engineering, finance, technology, insurance, medical devices, manufacturing, consumer services and many more.

Gold sponsor Becton Dickinson (BD) has more than 20 vacancies at its plant in Kulim, Kedah.

Its human capital unit manager Goh Hui I said the medical device manufacturer sought talent in process engineering, quality, operations and human capital.

Goh said BD had opportunities for fresh graduates to join as assistant engineers.

“We offer a 30, 60 and 90-day onboarding programme, including a work buddy system between new employees and experienced staff,” she said.

At the Great Eastern Life Assu­rance (Malaysia) Berhad booth, another gold sponsor, roles were available in corporate, entrepreneurship and internship tracks.

At MyStarjob Fair silver sponsor Hong Leong Bank Berhad’s booth, human resource business partner senior manager Elissa Ng said the digital era was changing the financial landscape.

“To support this, we are looking for people with drive, regardless of age, to fill entry-level and senior positions,” she said.

Ng said the bank was actively looking for people in sales.

“It is a good time to join us as we won two awards this year, Best Managed Bank in Malaysia and Best Private Bank or Wealth Manager in Malaysia and Singapore,” she said.

Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad, a silver sponsor, drew a steady stream of visitors at its booth.

Its agency recruitment manager Tho Nai Ken said it had job opportunities for candidates of all ages and educational background,” he said.

Tho said the new Pruventure Beyond programme gave job seekers a supported path into the insurance industry.

“The 36-month programme allows job seekers to join as associates.

“They are given digital tools during training before graduating as managers,” he said.

Dexcom (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a medical device manufacturer with a site in Batu Kawan, has close to 600 technical and non-technical positions to fill, from internships to senior executive positions.

The company said it wanted to meet job seekers in person, especially Penangites, instead of relying on online applications.

Bronze sponsor Eve Energy Malaysia Sdn Bhd, which produces lithium batteries, has more than 1,000 roles to fill.

Its human resource manager Woo Chee Hang said the fair had been fruitful for the Kulim-based company because they had found candidates for roles in electrical and electronic engineering, human resources and administration and finance.

“These fairs bring people of various talents together, making it easy for us to find new team members,” he said.

Job seekers also had the chance to check out Toyota Malaysia’s latest models. The fair’s lifestyle partner is displaying several cars and offering promotions.

Just for this weekend, the booth offers a Toyota Service Saver prepaid package of up to RM4,250, for up to five years service on selected Toyota models.

Other ongoing promotions for this month include a three-year free service (up to RM2,400) on a new Yaris Cross HEV (hybrid electric car) and a cash rebate of RM9,000 on the Vios Hybrid. Buyers can enjoy a special interest rate as low as 1.88% for both cars.

Toyota Malaysia has job openings for management trainees and interns, and positions in accounts, finance, human resources, IT, manufacturing, marketing, vehicle sales, customer service and technical services.

The fair includes job-matching sessions, lucky draws and career talks.
