RM57.15mil in drugs seized in Muar, two held


MUAR: The police seized drugs and illicit vape cartridges worth RM57.15mil in an operation codenamed Ops Landai - Intra/Inter Agensi here.

Marine police Region II commander Asst Comm Noor Azman Jamal said the raid took place at Parit Amat Laut, Muar at around 12.30am on Friday (June 5).

He said the raid involved the Muar marine police Region II Intelligence Unit and Muar Police District Headquarters Narcotics Crime Investigation Division.

"Upon arriving at the location, we saw a boat and a few stalled cars with several individuals were seen uploading the goods into the boat," ACP Noor Azman said in a statement.

He said the team immediately raided the boat and detained two local suspects - a woman, 43, and a man, 63 - believed to act as the transporters for the drugs.

ACP Noor Azman said the seized items stashed on the boat and car bonnets were 549kg of syabu, 191,268 ecstasy pills and 4,000 illicit vape cartridges bound for Indonesia.

He said the marine police also seized a fiber boat, seven cars and two engine boats with 85 horsepower capacity valued at RM70,000.

"We are investigating the remaining syndicate members whom we believe are still at large," said ACP Noor Azman, adding the two suspects have been remanded from June 5 until June 11.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952, Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act and Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code.

ACP Noor Azman said the two detainees and all the seized items were brought to the Muar Police District Headquarters for documentation and to assist with investigation.
