Retail shop worker injured in gang robbery


BALING: A retail shop worker in Kampung Kuala Lesung, Kuala Ketil, was injured in a robbery involving four men.

One of the men even wielded a machete.

Baling OCPD Supt Brandon Richard Joe said police received a report on June 1 regarding the incident involving the man, who is in his 20s.

“Investigations found that at 8.45pm on May 31, the man was approached by four male suspects travelling in a car.

“All four suspects were wearing helmets, masks, jackets and gloves, and one of them was carrying a machete,” he said in a media statement.

He said the suspect armed with the machete swung the weapon at the victim, causing minor injuries to his back.

“The victim suffered losses in cash due to the robbery and was taken to Hospital Baling for treatment. The case is being investigated under Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery,” he said.
