Man who went missing from Lahad Datu cave found in oil palm plantation

LAHAD DATU: An elderly man who went missing while searching for bird's nests in Gua Tepadung has been found safe near an oil palm plantation here.

Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station chief Sumsoa Rashid said the plantation manager contacted the fire department to inform them of the victim's whereabouts.

"The missing man, Ismail Ibrahim, 61, was safe but in a weakened condition," he said on Wednesday (June 3).

It was reported that the man went missing while searching for bird's nests with two others friends in Gua Tepadung on May 26.

The Fire and Rescue Department and Malaysian Civil Defence Force launched a search and rescue (SAR) operation and the operation was intensified on Wednesday with the deployment of the Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Team of Malaysia (STORM) to inspect the interior of the cave before the man was found. – Bernama
