Fire destroys six shops in Tanjong Karang

PETALING JAYA: Six shops in front of a petrol station near a main road in Tanjong Karang were destroyed in a fire late Tuesday (June 2) night.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received an emergency call regarding the fire at 11.27pm.

He said initial reports indicated that the blaze involved a single-storey shoplot.

“However, the latest information from personnel at the scene found that the fire actually involved six shop premises,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 3).

He added that all the affected premises suffered an estimated 90% damage in the fire.

“The firefighting operation successfully brought the blaze under full control at 3.54am,” he said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and no injuries or fatalities have been reported.
