Johor Pakatan ready to face state polls following dissolution of state assembly

JOHOR BARU: Johor Pakatan Harapan says it is ready to face the upcoming state election following the dissolution of the Johor state legislative assembly.

In a joint statement, state Pakatan said it had taken note of Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi's announcement that the state assembly had been dissolved with immediate effect.

The coalition said it had anticipated that Barisan Nasional would dissolve the assembly in the near future.

"From the beginning, Pakatan expected Barisan Nasional to dissolve the state assembly in the near future," the statement said.

The coalition said it would continue its existing preparations to face the state election in the spirit of democracy.

It added that discussions would also be elevated to the Pakatan presidential council at the national level to determine the coalition's next course of action.

According to the statement, no election is easy, and every contest must be approached with seriousness and commitment.

"Pakatan is prepared to mobilise all efforts to secure victory in this state election," it said.

The statement was jointly issued by Johor Pakatan chairman and state Amanah chief Aminolhuda Hassan, Johor PKR chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Johor DAP chairman Teo Nie Ching.
