AS the only daughter of Their Majesties Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Zarith Sofiah, King and Queen of Malaysia, Tunku Tun Aminah Sultan Ibrahim appears to be charting her own course in the corporate world while remaining closely connected to issues affecting the rakyat.
The news of her appointment as chairperson of Berjaya Property Bhd on March 19 further cemented her growing influence in the business landscape.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said Tunku Tun Aminah possessed considerable experience in heading private organisations across a broad range of industries and also served on the boards of several other private companies.
The princess also holds the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in Stulang Laut, Johor Baru.
Notably, her appointment at Berjaya Property came just days after she was named chair of U Mobile Sdn Bhd.

Currently, Tunku Tun Aminah chairs several companies such as Berjaya Corporation Bhd, Redtone Digital Bhd, Berjaya Assets Bhd and Berjaya Group Bhd.
Despite her growing corporate responsibilities, the Johor princess has also shown a keen interest in public welfare matters.
Tunku Tun Aminah has made several visits to federal ministries to gain a deeper understanding of issues affecting Malaysians, particularly involving consumer affairs and housing matters.
On March 17, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali welcomed Tunku Tun Aminah to his ministry, where he shared details related to his portfolio.
According to Armizan, discussions centred on the ministry’s functions and inclusive consumer-related policies.

On May 8 last year, Tunku Tun Aminah visited the Housing and Local Government Ministry, where she was received by Minister Nga Kor Ming and the ministry’s secretary-general Datuk M. Noor Azman Taib.
During the two-hour meeting, discussions touched on community development, green initiatives and strategic cooperation aimed at improving the well- being of the rakyat.
The ministry also presented its report card for the previous year, including highlights of programmes carried out for the public such as National Landscape Day, which was launched by Sultan Ibrahim and attended by Tunku Tun Aminah.
The princess also took time to inspect several Fire and Rescue Department assets displayed at the ministry compound.
Beyond Malaysia, Tunku Tun Aminah has also maintained an active presence internationally.

Tunku Tun Aminah attended the Regional Outlook Forum in Singapore organised by the Iseas-Yusof Ishak Institute last year.
The forum, themed “Resilience Amid Global Winds of Change”, focused on navigating political, geopolitical, technological and economic uncertainties.
The princess was also part of the judging committee meeting for the Harmony in Diversity Award in Singapore on April 23, serving alongside prominent regional figures such as former Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi and Quezon City mayor Joy Belmonte from the Philippines.
The award recognises individuals who have contributed towards preserving harmony in multicultural societies and strengthening unity across South-East Asia.

Tunku Tun Aminah and Dutch-born Datuk Dennis Muhammad Abdullah tied the knot at Istana Bukit Serene, Johor Baru, on Aug 14, 2017. They have two children.
The princess is often seen spending quality time with the King, Queen and her royal siblings despite their busy schedules.
Malaysians were touched by photos of Sultan Ibrahim making a special trip from Kuala Lumpur back to Johor Baru to surprise Tunku Tun Aminah on her birthday last year, with heartwarming images of father and daughter sharing an embrace widely circulated online.

Back home in Johor, the princess is actively involved in charitable causes including being the royal patron of the annual Laksamana Run, a fundraising event supporting cancer patients under the Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation.
Since its introduction in 2017, the event has raised funds to help cover treatment costs and provide emotional and financial support to cancer patients.
The foundation was named after her late brother Tunku Abdul Jalil, who was Tunku Laksamana Johor.
