PADANG RENGAS: PKR leaders who attended an event hosted by Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad to announce their political direction with Parti Bersama Malaysia should come forward and explain their presence to avoid prolonged speculation and criticism.
PKR Youth chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said it was fair for party members to question the involvement of several MPs at the event, adding that those concerned had a responsibility to clarify the matter.
“For me, it is simple. These individuals appeared with another party and should come forward to provide the necessary explanation.
“If they do not do so, then this issue will continue, and they should not be upset if others keep attacking them,” he told reporters after launching a family day at Kampung Labu Kubong here on Sunday (May 24).
Muhammad Kamil added that party leadership was also expected to seek explanations from those involved.
“I mean, it is fair for party members to raise and question this matter, but it is also their responsibility to provide an explanation.
“I believe the party will also ask some of them to explain,” he said.
On May 17, among those who attended the event were Sungai Siput MP S. Kesavan, Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail, Subang MP Wong Chen and Balik Pulau MP Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik.
When asked whether PKR grassroots support is shifting, Muhammad Kamil said that, as far as PKR is concerned, they do not believe this movement or any attempt would have a significant impact.
“Our grassroots strength remains strong and solid, and from time to time we continue to see an increase in the number of members joining the party.
“Although we do not publicise it like some other parties, I want to say here that it is normal for one or two individuals to decide to leave the party and so on.
“But the party’s youth wing, and PKR itself, will continue moving forward because our focus is to strengthen the machinery and be prepared for any possibility ahead, including state elections or the general election.
“We will not lose sight of our focus on continuing to strengthen and expand the party,” he said.
