Sabah PKR vice-chairman Amin Abdul Mem quits party

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PKR vice-chairman Amin Abdul Mem is the latest person to resign from the party.

He announced his exit from the party and relinquished his state post, his position as Semporna PKR chief and all other posts he held in the party after 27 years with PKR.

In a statement, the former teacher thanked the party and his comrades for all they went through with PKR, for how they shaped his political career, and for how they saw the reformist party grow together.

“To the Sabah PKR chief (Datuk Mustapha Sakmud), whom I respect, thank you for the support and cooperation rendered to me throughout this journey. I truly appreciate everything,” Amin said.

He called on party members to respect each other’s stances and to keep their bonds strong.

“With respect, I announce my resignation as the Semporna PKR division chief, Sabah PKK vice-chairman and all other posts within the party.

“I also request to exit from PKR’s membership,” said Amin.

Earlier in his statement, he said that he sees Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli's decision to quit PKR and join Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) as a continuation of the reformist idealism, pursued through a new approach free from compromise and politicking.

A few days ago, Tuaran PKR chief Razeef Rakimin, as well as Sabah PKR women’s deputy chief Artini Ali Taugan, also resigned from the party.
